Weird Spelling

How come "weird" is spelt "weird", and not "wierd", which is the mistake most people make
It fails to conform to the "I before E, except after C rule", - it's just strange.

i did a quick count on Google, and found that there are a huge number of pages out there, with "weird" incorrectly spelt on them.

• 5.9 million contain weird
• 0.4 million contain wierd

also ...

• 36.2 million contain receive
• 0.7 million contain recieve

i also recently discovered that my Kama Sutra page incorrectly spelt, it is a common misconception that "Kama" is spelt "Karma".
Kama, refers to the Hindu god of love, whereas Karma is some kind of spiritual thing.
Since my kama sutra page draws so many people to my site, i decided to leave it spelt wrong, but to also include a corrected version

It should be noted that i'm not claiming my site is at all perfect, it's note.
